OUR STORY

When we founded Mi Casa Tu Casa Community in 2017, our heart was simple: to build a meaningful, life-giving community for missionary kids (MKs) in Southern California. For the first four years, we focused on journeying with MKs through college, young adulthood, and early family life. A vibrant network of around 60 MKs became connected through mommy groups, book clubs, weekly worship gatherings, seasonal events, and annual retreats. It was a season marked by deep relationships, steady growth, and a shared sense of purpose.

When COVID reshaped the rhythms of daily life, it also reshaped our ministry. Large gatherings gave way to smaller, more intentional spaces centered on discipleship and intimate worship. In that quieter season, we sought the Lord wholeheartedly—and He met us. Through that time, He clarified a deeper vision: that MKs carry a unique and anointed spiritual inheritance for missions. As we began taking MKs on short-term mission trips, we witnessed them come alive. In the right setting, on the mission field, their identity and calling began to take fuller shape, revealing a glimpse of the purpose God had placed within them.

Since then, our ministry has expanded to include high school MKs, concentrating our energy and refining our calling as a ministry. These students attend Eastside Christian Schools, where they are able to thrive academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally in ways that were not accessible in their mission field contexts. The MKs who join us often come from unique and complex situations where continuing education abroad was not feasible. Where some may see an overwhelming challenge, we see a sacred opportunity—to witness the Lord's mighty and loving hand bringing isolated MKs into family, to walk alongside these students as they are nurtured, supported, and empowered to flourish in remarkable ways.
